2021 Campground Activities

Hello dedicated Wannakumbac patrons.

With 2021 comes another difficult summer camp season, and many tough decisions to make. Learning from last year’s attempt at running a camp program in the midst of a pandemic, we’ve decided to take a more cautious approach this time around. This summer, we intend to offer our beautiful space as a campground once again. We have plans to expand on last year’s 14 campsites and two rental cabins. However, along with our campground we also have another plan in place. Because we can’t fathom going two summers without a summer camp, we’ve decided to offer organized games and activities to the patrons of our campground!

To do this we intend to have volunteers present who will run socially distanced programming to all youth who are staying at our campground. There are no additional costs or registration required. All you need in order to join the fun is to be staying at one of our campsites or cabins and answer the standard COVID-19 screening questions. As long as regulations allow, we want the opportunity for your camper to stay here once again and enjoy the amazing opportunities Wannakumbac has to offer.

We hope this plan will allow us to more quickly adjust to whatever health regulations are put in place. We feel this family camp/campground model will likely change as the summer progresses and the vaccine is more widely distributed. Pivoting our business model has been a challenge to say the least, but we are remaining focused on giving our campers something positive to look forward to.

Summer Director

Meet Hannah Granger!

2021 campground activity summer camp director

Hi Camp Friends, I’m Hannah and I will be your 2021 Summer Director! I am super excited to be working with Wannakumbac management to give this summer as much of a traditional camp feel as possible. I have returned to camp since I was the age of 8, from junior camper to camp counsellor. I counselled the summers of 2016-2019 and I always wanna come back!

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in May 2020, with a major in psychology and minor in geography. Currently, I am enrolled in a Bachelor of Education After Degree (B.Ed.A.D.) at Brandon University and will be graduating in spring 2022. Everything I am learning through my degree will help me provide safe, socially-distanced programming as well as an inclusive and respectful atmosphere.

About Hannah’s Role

The Wannakumbac Summer Director position will look much different this year compared to a typical summer. Hannah will be responsible for coordinating volunteers and creating an all new campground activity program from scratch. She will also work with management to maintain a Covid-standard of cleanliness for the facility while ensuring all aspects of the campground operate smoothly.
